NBA The Run — My Honest First Impressions

Rells says the game lacks Street-style sauce in dribbles and dunks, but still catalogs beta crashes, shove spam, rookie variants, and features he genuinely liked.

Where's the sauce?

His main complaint: missing flashy Street DNA — limited crossovers, mid dunks, weak off-the-heezy (only works if defender stands still), basic step-back/spin/push-off chains even with advanced bumper holds.

He wants nutmegs, knee dribbles, kick passes, stunt dunks, and NBA Live 05-level variety.

Beta stability on PC

Frequent crashes every game or two on PC, menu buttons sometimes failing until restart, OBS recording issues, stuttering via Xbox Game Bar — hopes June 9 launch fixes optimization.

Animations and shoving

Movement still looks janky with pauses between dribble moves so chains never flow. Shoving in KO Squads feels excessive with no penalty — suggests toning down or adding consequences like NBA Ballers free throws.

CPU teammates sometimes ignore inbounds passes.

What he liked

Rookie variants that look and play different (rookie KD vs current KD, teen LeBron without beard, etc.). In-the-zone abilities per player — Curry deep threat from half court, Giannis posterizer, etc.

Shot meter optional, no green window required, shot feedback exists, crews/clans, no microtransactions, $30 price point, and fun knockout tournament structure.
