Beta logistics

Live stream during the May open beta — window runs 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST (8 hours). TDN downloaded on Steam early; PS5 listing was slow to appear for some viewers.

Workaround for PS5: search NBA The Run under Just Announced, open the three-dot menu, and select the beta. Discord and the PlayStation app helped others find it. Recommends at least two hours to form an opinion.

First impressions

Game feels noticeably different from earlier tests. No create-a-player in this build. Squad play in voice chat with friends — sharing the ball and hitting everyone for shots wins tournaments.

Rule variants shown include New School (first to 21, twos and threes) on courts like Glen Park and Beijing.

Squad knockout session

Chaotic finals run: alley-oop calls, Giannis defense, cold shooting slumps, and comeback threes. Competitive even when teammates disagree on shot selection.

Less a structured review than a real-time beta hangout — useful for seeing how knockout brackets and global courts play with a fixed squad.
