NBA The Run — 7 Things Before You Buy
Machete Gaming warns the $30 game is online-only KO tournaments — not NBA Street 2 — with shallow beta gameplay but a fair no-MTX model.
Release and price
June 9 on PS5, Xbox Series, Steam with full cross-play. Base $30, Deluxe $40 adds rookie Curry/Luka/Durant variants plus 1,000 cred.
Ex-EA Street/Madden devs built it — spiritual arcade vibe, not a literal Street sequel.
Online-only structure
No offline career, couch co-op, or Street-style city tour. Core = KO Squads, KO Solos, friends lobbies, shoot around. If servers die, you can't play.
Beta gameplay take
3v3 arcade on real outdoor courts feels fast but shallow: limited moves, similar-feeling players, near-automatic shooting, defense reduced to spamming one move.
Looks like Street, plays closer to NBA Jam depth-wise per his beta time.
Who should buy
32 NBA stars plus five fictional street legends at launch. Good for simple online jams with friends; bad if you want deep skill expression or single-player progression.
